Scouting doesn’t just happen. It takes a community of volunteers and donors to provide programs designed to teach character development, citizenship, physical fitness, and career exploration. BSA Big Give is the annual kick-off to the Investment in Character annual giving campaign and raises funds to support Scouting through the upcoming year.
Join us for the FREE luncheon and to hear some amazing stories from current and past Scouters, but especially from our Keynote Speaker, Terry Fossum. Born in the poorest city in the United States surrounded by gangs and drugs, Terry found himself staring down the wrong end of an assault rifle in his own back alley in Junior High. In high school, his father was killed. Before he died, one of the neighbors told him “I just want to make sure you understand something: “Not a single one of your boys will ever grow up to be anything.” But Terry and his brothers had Scouting, and Scouting changed their life.
If there is enough interest from the area, transportation will be arranged to and from the event. To register for the luncheon, click here: https://sites.google.com/view/bsa-big-give/home. Becky Mahoney, District Executive for the Ohwahnasee District, which serves Carroll County and 6 other surrounding counties in the Mid-America Council, will be hosting a table at this event and would be honored for you to attend. When registering, simply select her name as the table host and you will be seated with her at the event.
Funds raised at this event can be designated to a local pack or troop, to a Scouting event in the area or to the Ohwahnasee District in general to be used to provide programming, materials and support for local units.
