DMACC Students Named to 2023 Phi Theta Kappa All-Iowa Academic Team

A total of 20 students from across six DMACC campuses and two centers are honored

  • Twenty DMACC students are among the 82 Iowa Community College students named to this year’s Phi Theta Kappa All-Iowa Academic Team
  • Seven DMACC students are also named Coca-Cola Scholars
  • Allison Arnold of Ogden, Samantha Madole of Newton and Henry Souhada of Madrid are named Coca-Cola Gold Team members and will each receive a $1,500 scholarship
Twenty DMACC students have been named to the 2023 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) All-Iowa Academic Team and were recognized during a recognition banquet held Feb. 27 in downtown Des Moines.

PTK is the world’s largest and most prestigious honor society for two-year college students and recognizes outstanding academic achievement, intellectual rigor, leadership and civic growth. The highest academic achievers in PTK from across all 15 of Iowa’s community colleges are recognized each year. This year, a total of 82 students from those 15 schools were honored.

The 20 DMACC students (listed below) represented all six DMACC campuses and two of the College’s learning centers:

Addison Smith of West Des Moines
Kylee Thilges of West Bend 

DMACC Boone Campus:
Allison Arnold of Ogden
Sydney Scandrett of Ames
Henry Souhada of Madrid 

DMACC Carroll Campus:
Britney Croghan of Carroll
Brianna Wuebke of Carroll 

DMACC Newton Campus:
Andrea Franje of New Sharon
Sophia Kowal of Des Moines
Samantha Madole of Newton 

DMACC Urban Campus:
Benjamin Adams of Van Meter
Diana Perez of Des Moines
Kaden Townsend of Pleasant Hill 

DMACC West Campus:
Isabella Raymond of Waukee 

DMACC Ames/Hunziker Center:
Kaylin Petrak of Grimes
Sondra Wilson of Nevada 

DMACC Perry VanKirk Center:
Lily Hammer of Ogden
Kaylynn Salyars of Muscatine 

Additionally, a total of seven DMACC students were named to the 2023 Coca-Cola Academic Gold, Silver and Bronze Teams, which recognize high achieving college students who demonstrate academic excellence and intellectual rigor combined with leadership and service that extends their education beyond the classroom to benefit society. Each Gold team recipient receives a $1,500 scholarship, while Silver Team members receive a $1,250 scholarship and Bronze team members receive a $1,000 scholarship.
