St. Anthony Chronic Care Center to Host Community Diabetes Education Event

We look forward to seeing you on October 12!

The St. Anthony Chronic Care Center invites the community to a FREE diabetes education event. The evening will include conversations on eating well when living with diabetes, joyful movement, navigating the journey with diabetes and "this just in" on medications. These are all helpful approaches to putting the "human" touch on living with diabetes.

What: Community Event: The Human Factor, I have Diabetes

Who: This event is open to all.

When: October 12, 2022

5 – 6 p.m. Use this time as ‘social hour’ to get complimentary appetizers, browse medical vendor displays and have conversations with other attendees.

6 – 7 p.m. The education program will begin at 6 p.m. Hear from expert staff from the St. Anthony Chronic Care Center including speakers Deb Dieter, RN, CDCES, Madison Hemer, RD, LD and Cara Vogl, ARNP, BC-ADM. There will be a food demonstration and a question & answer section.

St. Anthony Chronic Care Center Earns ADA Recognition

The St. Anthony Chronic Care Center, Diabetes Services Self-Management Education Program has received ongoing recognition from the American Diabetes Association (ADA). The ADA’s Education Recognition Program (ERP) assures that educational services meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES).

The ERP, which is a voluntary recognition, promotes quality DSMES for people with diabetes. Programs that adhere to National Standards ensure knowledgeable health professionals provide participants with comprehensive information about diabetes management. Self-management is an essential component of a plan of care for someone living with diabetes. Participants in DSMES are taught self-care skills that promote better management of their diabetes regimen which include topics of nutrition, diabetes disease process, physical activity, monitoring/preventing/detecting acute complications, reducing risk for chronic complications, psychological adjustment and goal setting/problem solving. The Diabetes Services team at SARH includes a team of qualified professionals and pictured below from left to right: Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist Deb Dieter (RN, CDCES); Registered and Licensed Dietitian Madison Hemer (RD, LD); and Board Certified Advanced Diabetes Manager, Cara Vogl (ARNP, BC-ADM).
