Ankeny resident Fred Jackson, a former Coe College football standout who went on to play nine years with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills and became the third-leading rusher in Bills history, will host a Fred Jackson Football Camp at DMACC at the College’s Ankeny Campus this summer. The deadline to register is July 31, and a limited number of spots remain available for youth ages 5-12 and 13-17 to participate.

During the one-day camp on Aug. 6, Jackson will be joined by several former NFL and Collegiate players on the Ankeny Campus, including: Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch, who spent the majority of his 12 years in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks; former Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley II; 16-year veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick; former Southeast Polk High School, Purdue University and Chicago Bears quarterback Kyle Orton; former University of Iowa tight end and NFL veteran Scott Chandler; former Coe College defensive back Patrick Jackson; former Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Spencer Johnson; fitness coach, model and reality television personality Cory Wharton; former Buffalo Bills defensive back Aaron Williams and former Arena Football League, NFL, NFL Europe and Canadian Football League player and Montreal Alouettes Defensive Coordinator Kahlil Carter.

Jackson and his guests, who will serve as “celebrity coaches,” will coach players on using proper technique, including sharing some of the same drills they used in the NFL, and share advice and tips for success.

“We’re excited to host this camp in coordination with DMACC,” Fred Jackson said. “The camp will provide an opportunity for boys and girls to learn proper techniques, develop good habits and gain advice from pros. Additionally, we’re working directly with Des Moines Public Schools and others community partners to scholarship spots for those kids who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend.”

The camp will be held on Sat., August 6 from 9 a.m.-Noon for kids ages 5-12 and from 1-4 p.m. for youth ages 13-17. The camp is limited to the first 150 people who sign up for each session, and Jackson encourages both male and female athletes to participate. Scholarships are also available to help cover the cost of the camp for local youth in need.

To register for the camp, go to https://tinyurl.com/FredJacksonCamp2022 or call (515) 965-6000.
