Spring is in the air, and so is our community spirit! Guthrie County State Bank will again encourage acts of kindness through our Celebrate May Day promotion. Beginning May 1 through May 27, we invite GCSB customers to help a member of our community for the chance to win one of 10 – $500 checks from GCSB to be donated to a local small business or nonprofit. That’s a total of $5,000 for local nonprofits and small businesses! 

What is May Day? 

May Day as a term is defined as a communications signal with two meanings. One is used as a distress call in international radio/telephone communications. The other is as a signal that spring is coming and it’s time to celebrate the rebirth of the outdoors. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to show support for our local businesses and nonprofits who do so much for our community! 

How to enter GCSB’s Celebrate May Day promotion 

It’s easy to enter. Between May 1 – 27, snap a picture of yourself, your family or your friends performing a good deed for someone else. Submit the photo on Guthrie County State Bank’s Facebook page or on your public Instagram profile with the hashtag #GCSBMayDay and let us know the small business or nonprofit to which you would give the $500 if you were to win. You can also email your photo and description to gcsbank@gcsbank.com 

Here’s an example of what you could post: 

“I visited the local care facility and helped run their bingo night. If selected, I would donate the $500 to XYZ Nonprofit. #GCSBMayDay” 

There are many ways to show kindness — volunteer for a park clean-up day, make cards for residents of care facilities, buy coffee for your office, or gather food bank donations. 

You may enter multiple times — just be sure it’s a separate good deed and that you nominate a different nonprofit or business each time. See the full rules below for more details. We’ll draw the winners on May 30. Submissions for the contest are only open to GCSB customers. However, the business or nonprofit you nominate does not need to be our customer.

Guthrie County State Bank Celebrate May Day Promotion

Official Rules and Terms 

No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win this sweepstakes.  

ELIGIBILITY: The Guthrie County State Bank Celebrate May Day Promotion is open to residents of the United States, 18 years of age or older at time of entry. Entrants must be a current customer of Guthrie County State Bank before May 27, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. with at least one active account. Employees and their respective immediate family members are ineligible to win, but they are encouraged to perform acts of goodwill and promote the campaign.  

HOW TO ENTER: You may enter for a chance to win beginning at 8:00 a.m. CT on May 1, 2022, through 5:00 p.m. CT on May 27, 2022.  

Share a photo of how you’re showing kindness to a neighbor, friend, family member, or anyone in need of a good deed, along with a caption that includes what local business or nonprofit you want to receive $500.  

Customers may enter the contest multiple times provided each entry is for a different good deed and that each entry directs the potential funds to a different local nonprofit or business. 

Entrants can submit this information on: 

• Instagram: Post your photo, description of your good deed, and who you would like to receive the prize. Use the #GCSBMayDay hashtag, and tag the GCSB account in your post.

  If your account is private, be sure to follow @guthriecountystatebank so we can see your post.

• Facebook: Upload your photo, description of your good deed, and who you would like to receive the prize to the GCSB Facebook page at Facebook.com/GuthrieCountyStateBank

  and use the #GCSBMayDay hashtag.

• Email: Email your photo, description of your good deed, and who you would like to

  receive the prize to gcsb@gcsbank.com, and we’ll post it for you.

PRIZE DETAILS: Ten (10) winners will be selected to pick a local business or nonprofit of their choice to receive $500 in the form of a check. Winners may not direct their award to nonprofits in which they hold an officer position or businesses of which they are full or part-owners.

The local business or nonprofit selected does not need to be a Guthrie County State Bank customer, however they must be located within Guthrie County, Iowa, and allow Guthrie County State Bank to promote that their business or organization was a recipient. Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries.  

DRAWING: Winners will be selected at random in a drawing on May 30, 2022. Winners will also be notified via phone, email, or through comment on their social media post entry. Bank representatives will confirm the business or nonprofit to receive the funds. A list of winners and their designated recipients will be posted on Guthrie County State Bank website and social media.  

GENERAL CONDITIONS: By entering, participant agrees to grant Guthrie County State Bank the right to the use of their name for advertising, publicity and sweepstake purposes in any media. This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook or Instagram.
