Ask and Expert: If you have a weaker immune system, should you get the vaccine?

Des Moines University issued the following announcement on October 5.

The answer is unequivocally, yes, you should.

If you have any type of immunocompromised condition at all, organ transplant, any autoimmune disease, any cancer treatment that you might be taking, or if you have any lung compromising diseases, or if you’ve got any heart diseases, basically any chronic conditions that you might be dealing with, any of this puts you at greater risk for more severe complications from COVID-19.

So, if you have any chronic medical conditions at all, please get your shot. It can keep you out of the hospital. May even keep you alive.
