Des Moines Area Community College recently issued the following announcement.
Students who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will have an opportunity to win a $1,000 cash prize this fall
- DMACC is encouraging students to be vaccinated before attending fall semester classes.
- As an incentive to get vaccinated, six DMACC students will each receive a $1,000 prize if they show proof of full vaccination.
- “By getting vaccinated, you will protect yourself, your education, your family and your DMACC classmates and faculty," said DMACC President Rob Denson in a communication to students.
- Details on how to enter the drawing will be announced after classes begin.
“We know that the vaccination will prevent serious consequences well over 90 percent of the time," DMACC President Rob Denson said while encouraging students to get vaccinated. “We want our campuses and classrooms to be safe environments for our students and faculty. This drawing is both a reminder and motivation for students to get their shot. It's the right thing to do.
“We are also seeing that more and more leading businesses are requiring vaccination of their employees. These companies may hire DMACC students in the near future. We want them to be both healthy and prepared for the workplace."
Students will learn more about how to enter the drawing after classes begin.
“By getting vaccinated, you will protect yourself, your education, your family and your DMACC classmates and faculty," Denson said.
DMACC fall classes begin on August 25. DMACC will announce the winners of the drawing in early October.
