Manning Regional Healthcare recently issued the following announcement.
Similar to the statewide trends, MRHC has seen an increase in positive cases in the last few weeks. “As our children head back to school, it is important to remember to wash your hands, social distance and stay at home when you are sick,” said MRHC’s Infectious Disease Nurse, Jill Arp, RN, BSN.
As COVID-19 and the COVID variants continue to impact our community, nation, and world, please follow these safety measures to keep you and your loved ones healthy.
- Wash your hands, cover sneezes and coughs, and physical distance when possible.
- If you are experiencing respiratory symptoms, please stay at home and schedule an appointment with your primary care physician.
- If you are not fully vaccinated and aged 2 or older, you should wear a mask in indoor public places.
- COVID-19 vaccinations are recommended for everyone ages 12 and older.
According to Centers for Disease Control, COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for all people aged 12 years of age and older, including people who are pregnant, lactating, trying to get pregnant now, or might become pregnant in the future. This CDC recommendation aligns with those from professional medical organizations serving people who are pregnant, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine.
Due to the increased circulation of the highly contagious Delta variant, the increased risk of severe illness and pregnancy complications related to COVID-19 make vaccination for this population more urgent than ever. As always, speak with your personal healthcare provider if you have any questions.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has also updated use authorizations for both the Pfizer- and the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to allow an additional dose if you are considered immunocompromised. This includes people who are especially vulnerable because of organ transplants, certain cancers or other disorders. Check with your doctor if you aren’t sure if you fall in this category.
The CDC’s independent Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends people with moderately to severely compromised immune systems receive an additional dose of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine following their initial 2-dose vaccination series. CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky accepted those recommendations, and released a statement. Fully vaccinated people with healthy immune systems do not need another dose of COVID-19 vaccine at this time. MRHC will receive and administer the booster vaccine when it is available.
COVID-19 vaccinations are being offered at Manning Pharmacy, Carroll Apothecary, Hy-Vee, Walgreens, and Walmart. However, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is not currently available. The Manning Pharmacy will resume offering the vaccine when it is available.
COVID-19 vaccinations are also available at the Carroll County Public Health offices located on the second floor St. Anthony Regional Hospital. Moderna, Pfizer, and J & J vaccines are available.
