CCMH Expands Process to Collect Co-Pays for Services in Clinic

Genbusiness009

Crawford County Memorial Hospital recently issued the following announcement.

Crawford County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) will soon be adding point-of-service collections in the CCMH Medical Clinic for Lab and Radiology services.   This process has been adopted by many hospitals and clinics nationwide over the last several years.  Collecting payments for co-insurance and deductibles is not a change in payment requirements.  The difference is that payment will now be requested at the time of service in the Lab and Radiology departments.

Erin Muck, President and CEO of CCMH, said delaying the conversation regarding co-pays and out-of-pocket expenses can lead to an unwelcome shock for patients.

“Delaying the conversation about payment for services can lead to less than pleasant surprises for both the patient and for CCMH. We want to be a good partner for the patient and their family by sharing the financial information upfront,” Muck explained. “By helping the patient and their family understand the costs associated with treatment and how they can meet them, CCMH can provide a more compassionate experience.”

Patients seen in the CCMH Medical Clinic will now be able to visit with a financial counselor to receive an estimate about out-of-pocket expenses for co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles for any Lab and/or Radiology services ordered that day. After being seen by a provider, a financial counselor will visit with the patient to collect insurance information and collect applicable co-pays.

Patients without health insurance, or who are concerned about how to pay for Lab and Radiology services, are encouraged to ask about applying for financial assistance. Financial assistance information is available from CCMH Financial Counselors during regular business hours or can be accessed on CCMH’s website (www.ccmhia.com).
