CCMH Offering Scholarships for EMS Training

Scholarr

Crawford County Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on July 27.

In a proactive move to address the ongoing shortage of paid and volunteer EMS providers, Crawford County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) has announced the creation of a new EMS scholarship program. Three scholarships will be awarded; one scholarship for $1340 which will cover the cost of tuition and books for the course, and two $500 partial scholarships. Scholarship recipients agree to spend one year working in EMS in Crawford County following the completion of their training and certification.

Erin Muck, CCMH President and CEO, says the scholarship program is just one of the steps the hospital is taking to encourage more people to become involved in delivering EMS services.

“The EMS shortage is not just in Crawford County but all over Iowa and the United States,” Muck explained. “Many other EMS services in Iowa are looking for additional personnel. The scholarship program is just the first step in a multi-pronged approach to recruit and train more people to provide EMS services in Crawford County.”

Doug Hollander, Chief Clinical Officer at CCMH, said the EMS scholarship application is now available for download from the CCMH Facebook page.

“The deadline for CCMH to receive scholarship applications is August 13 because EMS classes at DMACC in Carroll begin on August 25,” Hollander said. “Anyone who has an interest in becoming certified in EMS is urged to fill out and return the scholarship application as soon as possible.”

Questions regarding the application process can be directed to Hollander at 712-265-2532 or dhollander@ccmhia.com.
