Dena King was named the recipient of the 2020 Founds Award. Dena is a Senior Project Engineer Leader in the Transportation Work Group at Bolton & Menk.

She began her career in 2002 as a Design Engineer and has since gained experience with urban and rural highways, complex intersections, trail design, and sidewalk design to meet ADA standards and PROWAG. Dena leads design efforts on preliminary and final roadway, trail, and sidewalk design projects. She is a leading expert with ADA design, who stays current with design guidance and helps train internal staff in the proper implementation of ADA design in plans. She has significant technical expertise in geometric highway and trail design. As a key design team member, Dena’s strength is in the development of concepts and design implementation. She enjoys the preliminary design phase when a project really takes shape. Moving a conceptual idea into reality and developing design layouts has always been a significant area of excellence for Dena.

Dena holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota and gained her Professional Engineer accreditation in 2007.

The Founders Award, presented annually, honors the firm’s founders, John Bolton & Martin C. Menk. It recognizes an individual’s initiative, commitment to quality and client satisfaction as well as other outstanding contributions to the success of the firm. John and Martin believed that a business is truly successful when people are committed to its goals, represent the firm well in their community, and are dedicated to meeting client needs.

Congratulations, Dena!
