Audubon County Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Nov. 24.

As cases of COVID-19 increase across the country, it is more important than ever to know what valuable resources you have in your local community. At Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics our top priority is the health and safety of our patients and community.

We want you to know that it is safe for you to come to our hospital and clinics for care. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, we encourage all our patients to continue scheduling important primary care visits, including well-visits, immunizations, lab tests, and blood pressure checks. We are continuing to see patients in all outpatient services, specialty services, and surgical services.

At ACMH, we are taking many steps to ensure your safety during your visit. All employees are required to wear a mask, screened and have their temperature taken at the beginning of their work day.  These policies apply to our patients and visitors as well. When you come to the hospital, our staff will greet you and guide you through a short three-step screening process. Then you will either go to your appointment, or be given further instructions.

Although COVID-19 has changed the way we may do things, it doesn’t change the fact that we are here to take care of you. All clinic visits are by appointment only to limit the number of patients at one time.  If you are not comfortable coming into the facility, both the Audubon Family Health Clinic and the Exira Medical Clinic offer telehealth appointments for primary care. You can use our telehealth option during regular clinic hours and schedule them as you would for an in-person visit. Through these virtual visits, patients are able to meet with their provider from the safety of their home using a smart phone, tablet, or computer.

Our Outpatient Specialty Clinic offers telehealth care through many of our providers including general surgery, ENT, cardiology, and our mental health clinic. ACMH would like to welcome Dr. Ross Bacon and Dr. Arvin Santos, our new telehealth providers from Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD. Dr. Bacon is a Pulmonary Care provider specializing in sleep medicine and pulmonary medicine treating conditions such as asthma, COPD, pulmonary hypertension, and sleep apnea. Dr. Santos is a Kidney Care Specialist who specializes in nephrology. He treats patients with high blood pressure and chronic kidney disease. Dr. Santos is also a certified hypertension specialist.

We want you to feel safe when you receive care from us. It is just as important, if not more so, to keep receiving routine care during a pandemic. Whether it is through in-person appointments or virtual visits, we will continue to be here for all your healthcare needs, and together, we will keep Audubon County healthy. For more up-to-date information about our COVID-19 response, please visit our website www.acmhhosp.org. We look forward to seeing you soon!
