With a growing percentage of COVID-19 tests returning positive results, Carroll County Public Health is encouraging local residents not to become complacent about coronavirus precautions.
“We have some kind of COVID-19 fatigue going on right now, but we all need to come back and remember the best thing we need to do is wear masks,” Sarah Schulte, Carroll County Public Health nurse, told KCCI. “I wear a mask for you, you wear a mask for me. That is how we protect each other.”
The positive test rate for the county recently reached 19%, according to KCCI. With the threshold of 15% set by the Iowa Department of Education, local schools are currently only permitted to hold up to 50% of classes in person.
However, the county’s health department does not expect the current positive test rate to remain at 19%, according to KCCI.
Currently, the Test Iowa site at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll tests approximately 100 people per day, according to KCCI.
