The Iowa Finance Authority is leading a program that will offer financial assistance to homeowners and renters facing foreclosure or eviction due to hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The COVID-19 Iowa Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Program is funded by the CARES Act and provides short-term relief to eligible parties.
Rhonda Huggins, Guthrie County New Opportunities Family Development Center Coordinator, told Raccoon Valley Radio that there are income requirements that interested parties have to meet.
"You have to actually be out of work due to COVID, so they give you a timeline there, ‘Did you lose your job between this date and this date?’" Huggins said. "And then they ask you some more questions. It is then reviewed and they will either accept it or deny it.”
The program can provide up to four months of assistance for those who have lost a job due to COVID-19 after March 17. Information about the program and other opportunities for assistance can be found here.
