Carroll County attorney John Werden has been chosen to serve on the board of governors for the Iowa State Bar Association.
“I am looking forward to the supervisory role of the board in helping to advance the cause of justice,” Werden told the Carroll Times Herald. “I am especially interested in the lobbying activities of the Bar Association in the legislature where we work to improve the law to better serve the people.”
Werden has been has been practicing law in the Carroll area since 1984 and has been an attorney for the county for more than two decades. He defeated Story County assistant attorney Torey Cuellar in the election for the Judicial District 2B seat on the governor’s board.
The ISBA includes approximately 8,000 Iowa attorneys. The association’s board works with numerous committees on many types of law including criminal, estate and family, according to KCIM.
