An influx of personal protective equipment is directly benefitting Exira residents with the reopening of the Exira Medical Center.
The center is open on a limited basis, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Southwest Iowa News Source reported. It is important to note, COVID-19 patients will not be treated at the clinic. Individuals who display symptoms will be sent to the Audubon County Memorial Hospital for testing and possible treatment.
The clinic had been temporarily closed to maximize the hospital’s ability to treat the virus, particularly in view of its limited supply of protective equipment, the news source reported.
More equipment has been received over the last week allowing medical services to be expanded.
It also reported the clinic will receive patients by appointment only. There will be a screening process involved and only one family at a time on the premises. Visitors will be outfitted with masks which they will take home with them.
The clinic will reopen on a full-time basis once the pandemic has subsided and is no longer considered a threat within the state.
