Des Moines Area Community College issued the following announcement on Feb. 18.
Seating is Limited for Four-Course Dinner
The Iowa Culinary Institute® (ICI®) at DMACC is pleased to announce that Italian Chef Piergiorgio Siviero will be a guest chef at DMACC’s ICI® “A Taste of Italy.” Dinner to be held on Wed., Feb. 26.
Siviero is the Head Chef of the Michelin-starred restaurant Lazzaro 1915 in Pontelongo, Italy, which has been in his family for more than 100 years. Chef Siviero has refined his craft in restaurants throughout Europe and has trained under the famous Alain DuCasse, the most decorated Michelin Star chef in the world.
DMACC’s ICI® kitchens have been frequented by numerous international chefs this past month. The 35th anniversary of the French Chefs exchange between DMACC and chefs from the St. Etienne region of France just concluded. A total of 20 French chefs and their respective spouses spent time teaching French cuisine to the DMACC Culinary Arts students. Eight DMACC ICI® students will go to France in May serving two-week internships in the kitchens of the world-renowned French chefs.
“We take great pride in providing our students with world-class culinary experiences at the Iowa Culinary Institute,” said DMACC ICI® Director Chef John Andres. “We are also proud of the ever-growing excitement that it contributes to the great restaurant and dining scene here in Central Iowa.”
Siviero will prepare a four-course Italian dinner on Wed., Feb. 26. The event is open to the public, but seating is limited to 50 people and reservations are being taken on a first come, first served basis. The cost is $100 per person, with the aperitif (sparkling wine and hors d’oeuvres) starting at 6:30 p.m. and the dinner beginning at 7 p.m.
