DES MOINES AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE: UNI and DMACC Set to Announce Major, New Agreement

Des Moines Area Community College issued the following announcement on Nov. 5. 

WHO

Governor Kim Reynolds, UNI President Mark Nook, DMACC President Rob Denson and DMACC Urban Campus Provost Anne Howsare-Boyens will jointly announce a new agreement that brings the two institutions together to better serve Des Moines area students attending the DMACC Urban Campus and other DMACC metro sites. Project supporters and UNI Foundation Board members Dave and Mark Oman will also participate in the announcement.

 

WHAT

Negotiations between DMACC and UNI have been going on over the past year and pending Regents and DMACC Board approvals, will result in a new educational 2+2 partnership to better serve Des Moines area students seeking a Bachelor’s Degree after completing DMACC. Details of the new and unique collaboration will be announced at the DMACC Urban Campus. This is the first community college – university 2+2 relationship located in a majority-minority college or campus in Iowa.

WHY

The agreement will provide another, affordable option for Des Moines area students. UNI and DMACC have jointly offered degree programs on the Carroll Campus for more than a decade, but this represents a larger partnership affecting many more students.
